Horn ready to topple Pacquiao

Unheralded Australian Jeff Horn is counting on an almost 7kg weight advantage to help him claim his first world title in Australia in July.

He is due to face the legendary Manny Pacquiao at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane for the WBO welterweight title. Over 44,000 tickets have already been sold for the bout.

Speaking to the Courier Mail, his trainer, Glenn Rushton is expecting a war when the two square off in less then two weeks time.

“It was a war in there, and we are preparing for war on July 2,” Rushton said on Horn's sparring sessions, adding: “I’m just glad he came through the three weeks of tough work against Czar without any little injuries because they always seem to happen in the last round of the final spar. Jeff will now go up another gear again on the day of the fight.”

Horn still has to shed roughly 4kgs ahead of the bout limit of 66.7kg while the Filipino is already underweight as he has preferred to fight at his "walk-around weight" over the last number of years.

This has led to him fighting bigger, stronger opponents and ultimately, he hasn't recorded a stoppage win since 2009 against Miguel Cotto.

Ireland's Michael Conlon is due to appear on the undercard against Jarrett Owen.
