Golden State Warriors advance to NBA Finals

Golden State Warriors will play in the NBA Playoffs for the third year in a row.

The 2015 NBA Champions defeated San Antonio Spurs 129-115 on Monday night to win the Western Conference Finals 4-0. The Warriors remain the only unbeaten team in the Playoffs and are the first in the history on the NBA to win their opening 12 Playoff games in a single season.

Leading by 14 points at half-time, the Warriors never looked in doubt at winning their third Western Conference title in a row. Winning the opening three quarters, the Spurs outscored their rivals by four points in the final quarter, when the Warriors began to ease up.

The Oakland-based team are the first from the Western Conference to win three Conferences in a row since the LA Lakers team of 2008-10. The win in San Antonio was the fifth Conference title in the team's history.

Steph Curry top-scored for the Warriors with 36 points. Kevin Durant also impressed for the Warriors shooting 29 points.

For the Spurs, Kyle Anderson scored 20 points, with Argentinian veteran Manu Ginobli scored 15. The series loss for the Spurs is the first time the team had reached the Western Conference Finals, since winning the title in 2014.

The Warriors now have a week off until the NBA Finals begin on June 1st. Whoever the opposition it, Golden State will have home-court advantage due to having the best regular-season record this year.

On Tuesday night, Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals takes place with Cleveland leading Boston 2-1 in the best-of-seven series.
