After a buildup that seemed to last forever against Jose Aldo, Conor McGregor's next fight will be over in less than two months as he prepares to face Rafael dos Anjos.
The UFC confirmed last night that the two men are to fight for dos Anjos' Lightweight Championship at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on March 5th.
Here are five things you need to know about the 31-year-old:
1. Dos Anjos has fought 19 times in the UFC (just two less than McGregor's total of professional fights). In those 19 fights, he has won 14 times and losing five.
2. If McGregor is to win on March 5th, dos Anjos' reign was Lightweight Champion will have lasted less than a year. He defeated Anthony Pettis to win the title in March last year before defending the title against Donald Cerrone last month. After that fight, he told McGregor that he would fight the Dubliner anywhere.
3. Compared to McGregor, dos Anjos does not possess noted knockout power. In his 25 professional wins, 12 have come by decision, with five wins coming by knockout.
4. Despite being four years older than McGregor, dos Anjos is far more experienced inside the ring. He had fought 11 times in Brazil before McGregor made his professional debut in 2008.
5. Dos Anjos became the 11th Brazilian to win a UFC title when he defeated Pettis last year. He is the only non-American to hold the UFC's Lightweight Championship.
