The former head of athletics' world governing body has been provisionally suspended from his honorary member role within the International Olympic Committee.
Lamine Diack is being investigated by the French authorities after allegedly receiving money to cover up doping involving the Russian athletic federation.
In a statement, the IOC confirmed: "The IOC’s Executive Board decided this afternoon to confirm the proposal of the IOC Ethics Commission to provisionally suspend Mr. Lamine Diack, the former President of IAAF, from his honorary membership of the IOC".
He stepped down as International Association of Athletics Federations president in August after 16 years in charge, and was succeeded by Lord Sebastian Coe.
