Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn isn't holding out much hope for Conor McGregor in the boxing ring as talk of a fight with Floyd Mayweather continues to bubble under the surface.
For months now, UFC lightweight champion McGregor has been linked with a lucrative fight against the retired but unbeaten Mayweather.
The challenge for the Dubliner would be transferring his abilities in mixed martial arts and being able to be as potent in a completely different form of combat in which his opponent is well versed.
Hearn, who is promoter to Ireland's 2012 Olympic champion Katie Taylor as well as Anthony Joshua, spoke to The Guardian alongside his father Barry.
While Eddie Hearn is impressed with McGregor's business acumen within the MMA world, his comments suggest that he cannot see McGregor thriving in a boxing ring.
"I don't mind MMA and I've been fascinated by Conor McGregor from a business perspective," he said when asked about his perspective on the rise of UFC.
"McGregor is one of the world's best MMA fighters but I've got kids at York Hall who would beat him hands down in a boxing match.
"And he's fighting Floyd Mayweather? That's the biggest boxing mismatch ever but if they need a promoter, give me a call. I'd snap it up."
Recently, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh hinted that a fight with Mayweather is getting closer to being announced and that they are already preparing for it.
"As I'm concerned, I really believe it's going to happen this year. That's the mindset I have," he said.
