Paul Dunne shot a nice 2-under second round at the Nordea Masters but all the damage had been caused by yesterday's round when he shot a 5-over 78.
It’s disappointing for Wicklow man Dunne considering the US open is only a month away. The 24 year-old impressively qualified for the second major of the year by making it through via a playoff to secure one of the four final qualifying spots after challengers including England's Aaron Rai and Li Haotong of China were among 11 to qualify through regulation play.
Dunne has already played in a major. He caused a sensation at the British Open at St Andrews in 2015 when he held a share of the lead after the third round. The Irishman eventually finished in a tie for 30th.
This year's US Open takes place at Erin's Hill in the state of Wisconsin.
