Denver and Carolina will face off at Super Bowl 50

New England couldn't live with the Broncos' defence on Sunday, while the Panthers were dominant in their match-up against the Cardinals.

Despite a season plagued by injury, Peyton Manning will be headed to Super Bowl 50 as he looks to possibly end his career on a high note.

His Denver Broncos side were dominant on defence in the AFC Championship game, pressuring Tom Brady on almost every throw and forcing him into errors, including a number of interceptions.

Two touchdowns thrown to tight end Owen Daniels and a pair of field goals from kicker Brandon McManus gave the Broncos a 20-18 victory, but it was a nervous few final moments as the Patriots came close to taking the game to over-time.

Tom Brady connected with Rob Gronkowski on a long fourth down to move his team into position, before finding the tight end again for the touchdown. However, Stephen Gostkowski had missed an extra point attempt earlier in the game and therefore they needed to go for two points to level things up, but failed to convert.

Things were a bit more straightforward for the Carolina Panthers in the NFC Championship game, as they were 49-15 winners over the Arizona Cardinals.

Cam Newton threw for two touchdowns and rushed for a further two, with Tedd Ginn Jr. getting in on the ground also. Luke Kuechly also secured a touchdown off an interception.

Things could have been slightly different were it not for a great saving tackle from Ginn, who managed to make up a huge amount of distance just before the break and get back to tackle Patrick Peterson, who had intercepted Newton and looked to be headed back to the end zone with the ball with the score at 24-7.

Carolina, who had the best regular season record in the NFL at 15-1, will now meet Denver at Levi's Stadium on February 7th in the Super Bowl.
