Cork's Orla Barry wins bronze at the IPC Athletics World Championships

26 year old Orla Barry has won a bronze medal this morning at the IPC Athletics World Championships in Doha.

The Cork athlete recorded a seasons best throw of 29.82 metres in the Women's Discus Throw F57 Final. It is Barry's second World Championships in a row to win a medal after finishing second in the same event in France two years ago.

It was a successful day for Irish athletes, with Deirdre Mongan finishing fifth in the Women's Shot Put F53 Final. Mongan's best throw was 4.02 metres.

Later today, Ireland have more medal hopefuls in action as Hayley Fitzsimons competes in the Women's Shot Put F40 Final. John McCarthy also competes this evening in the Men's 100m T51 First Round.

Barry's bronze medal today means Ireland have now won five medals at the games. Ireland' medal haul now stands at two gold medals, a silver medal and two bronze medals.
