Conor McGregor enjoying life as a welterweight ahead of UFC 196

For those of you who've been living under a rock for the past 10 days, Conor McGregor takes on Nate Diaz this Saturday at UFC 196, after lightweight champion, Rafael do Anjos, pulled with a broken foot. Oh, and the fight is now at welterweight.

The change in weight has been seen as mostly positive for McGregor, with many commenting on how drastic his cut is when making weight for featherweight bouts.

Fox Sports’ The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Tuesday, McGregor said; "Right now, this second, as I’ve been having two breakfasts every morning, I’ve been literally going to bed full to the brim, I’m trying to eat as much a I can – I couldn’t eat anymore, and I’m waking up under-weight[170lb].

"I’m just about under-weight every time I wake up, but I have literally been non-stop eating."

The severity of the weight cuts previously had been a talking point, but this hasn't impeded on the performances of the reigning featherweight champion who has a 7-0 record in the UFC.

He was quick to clarify, however, that he's not been going too far off the rails with his diet.

“I am eating plenty of food, but don’t get me wrong I’m not eating two cakes and a bar of chocolate. I am eating healthy, good meals. It’s a nice feeling to have a full belly and lots of energy at this stage of fight-camp”.
