Despite signing with the UFC back in 2014, CM Punk is still yet to make his debut for the promotion after a back injury last year.
Now, Punk, real name Phil Brooks, looks set for his UFC debut against Mickey Gall, after the latter's win over Mike Jackson on Saturday night.
"Let me tell you, I hope it's soon. I think it's going to be this summer, which I can do. I can wait," Gall told the SFLC Podcast.
"I'm training and I'm getting better and what I can't wait for is to get my fight with CM Punk, beat CM Punk and then get started with the UFC roster.
"I want to get some wins over some big names, I want to get some awards, I want to do some stuff."
Rumours indicate that the fight might happen in the summer, at either UFC 201 or UFC 202, cards upon which Conor McGregor may be the headline fight for his rematch with Nate Diaz.
However, Gall himself has been pushing for a date closer to the summer.
Hey @CMPunk I hear they r adding an extra fight at #ufc200. This is me asking 4 it. You wanna do the same? @danawhite @lorenzofertitta @ufc
