There have been moments in the last few years where the tantalising prospect of a long-term Tiger Woods comeback has become a possibility before turning into a false dawn.
Could this time be different? The 14 time major winner started the Hero World Challenge in blistering form before finishing the weekend tied for ninth on 8-under.
Two-time US Open winner Andy North joined us to reflect on the weekend and whether golf fans should be getting excited again.
"If you look at how he played over the entire 72 holes, he had five or six stretches of three or four or five holes where he played great and he really only had one bad stretch and that was on Saturday when it just looked like he was out of rhythm and he couldn't quite find his swing, which happens to every one else who has played this game even if you're playing your fourth tournament in a row, let alone not playing basically for a couple of years," he said.

"I thought his swing was pretty good, I thought his speed was obviously very, very good. He mentioned a couple of times that he was having a bit of trouble controlling the distance in his irons just because he was amped up a little bit and he hadn't played enough to get that.
"His putting at times was very, very good and then every once in a while he hit one where he just mis-judged the speed or hammer one six or eight or 10 feet by the hole. That happens when you haven't been playing a lot and I think probably the biggest concern would be how he chipped and pitched the ball. The chipping and pitching around those greens is really hard, very, very difficult, very grainy. A lot of the shots would be into the greens so even if you're on top of your game, you might not hit some of those as well as you'd like. I think, all in all, it was an amazing performance and he beat a whole lot of guys who've had awful good years so I would think he's beside himself."
