Andy Lee to fight in New York in March

Andy Lee's return to the ring has been confirmed.

The Limerick fighter will face American KeAndrae Leatherwood in Madison Square Garden, New York. The fight will be part of the under-card for Gennady Golovkin's fight with Danny Jacobs on March 18th.

Underwood is unbeaten in his last five fights and has an 18-3-1 record. He has fought four times since Lee last stepped into a ring.

The 32-year-old lost his WBO World Middleweight Title to Billy Joe Saunders in December 2015. It was the third loss in Lee's 38-fight career.

"My goal is to eventually challenge the winner of [Golovkin] and Jacobs." Lee told ESPN. "March 18 will be the first step on that journey....I'm also very happy to be fighting in Madison Square Garden again, the scene of some of my greatest victories."

It will be the first time Lee has fought in Madison Square Garden since his stunning fifth round win over John Jackson in June 2014.

The Limerick star will conclude an exciting weekend for Irish fight fans in New York. On March 17th, Michael Conlan begins his professional career in the Madison Square Garden Theater.
