Andy Lee looks to vanquish Billy Joe Saunders defeat with a World Title fight in June

Just two months after relinquishing his World Middleweight belt to Billy Joe Saunders, Andy Lee is looking to bury that hurt with a World Title fight against Danny Jacobs in New York's Madison Square Garden.

Jacobs is the reigning WBA middlewight champion and speaking to Off The Ball's Joe Molloy, the Limerick born boxer says that this is the fight that could reignite his form.

''There's a chance I could fight Danny Jacobs in June and we're waiting on a reply. I've accepted the fight loosely but I haven't committed to it. It's a world title fight so it would put me back in the mix.''

''I don't fancy going back to fighting lads in the lower ranks to build myself up. I don't need to do that and I don't think I could motivate myself for that. This fight would get me going again.''

Andy Lee also confronted his devastating loss to Billy Joe Saunders in December. Lee took two knockdowns in the third round which ultimately proved to be the difference. Promises of a rematch were initially looking hopeful but that has since been dismissed.

And Lee admitted on Off The Ball that he struggled to motivate himself for the bout.

''In the dressing room before the fight, my legs were very heavy but I didn't wanna say it at the time because that would empower it and make bigger than it is. I just thought I'd switch on when I got into the ring. It's my own fault, he boxed a smart fight.''

''I had three training camps in Surrey in the dark, wet days. You're waking up and it's dark which does affect your mood. My coach actually told me to take a sun bed a week before the fight.''

Amidst the talk of a prospective fight with Jacobs, Andy Lee also discussed the rumours about a possible fight with Miguel Cotto. And although no formal arrangements have been put in place, Lee admitted that he would relish the opportunity to fight the Puerto Rican.

''There was quite a lot about Miquel Cotto on my Twitter page this morning. That's a fight I would jump at. He's a great champ and a great fighter.
