Over-indulging at Christmas is a given in most households, but when you are preparing to go to you second Olympic Games you don't have that luxury.
European Modern Pentathlon champion Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe is in the middle of preparations for travelling to Rio in August and has recorded the Christmas life of an Olympic athlete in his latest video diary.
While some people may take part in a charity 5km race over Christmas, Lanigan O'Keeffe was pushing his body to its limit by participating in a Vo2 Max test. It is one of the most accurate way of measuring anyone's fitness. The video shows the European Champion sprinting at paces up to 21km/hour.
The results showed that Lanigan O'Keeffe had 3kg of extra muscle that he should have. Among the food items needed to lose the weight were chickpea cookies and coconut protein bites.
It's certainly not a turkey roast on Christmas Day. You can follow Arthur's progress on newstalk.com/sport up to the Rio Olympics. The Modern Pentathlon events begin on August 18th.
