After nine previous top te finishes in golf's majors, Australia's Jason Day finally entered the winners enclosure and the history books last night at Whistling Straits. Day's -20 is the lowest score to par in the history of golf's big four tournaments.
The 27 year old entered the final round with a two shot lead over Jordan Spieth, and he never let that buffer close last night as Spieth, Branden Grace and Justin Rose all put pressure on the Australian.
Spieth's second place finish caps off an amazing year for the Texan. After winning the first two majors of the year, he followed those wins with a fourth place finish at The Open and last nights runners up spot.

Despite the second place finish, Spieth becomes the new World Number 1, dethroning Rory McIlroy. The 22 year old becomes the second youngest player to top the World Rankings. Tiger Woods reached the top of the rankings aged 21.

With Spieth, McIlroy and Day now atop the World Rankings at an average age of just over 25, we may be in for an exciting period in the history of golf.
