REVEALED | John Giles' Premier League Manager of the Year shortlist

John Giles has given us his Premier League Manager of the Year short-list - with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer not making the cut in his view.

The former Manchester United, Leeds United and Republic of Ireland star joined Ger on today's Off The Ball as the season draws to a close.

John ran the rule over some of the top managerial performances this term, and also gave us his view that Brendan Rodgers might be a better fit in charge of Manchester United than a certain baby-faced Norwegian.

PEP GUARDIOLA

"It's all relative to what you have at your disposal. In Pep's case, especially if they win the Champions League, he'd have to be Manager of the Year.

"He does have more at his disposal than most of the other managers but if you win what you should be winning then you can't do anymore than that!"

BRENDAN RODGERS

"He's done a terrific job at Leicester. [He] hasn't spent much money and he's up there challenging. He's in the Cup final at the weekend, that's a terrific job."

But would the Northern Irishman do a better job at the Old Trafford helm than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? John certainly thinks so.

"I'm only giving you my opinion - I believe so, yes. He was a bit unlucky at Liverpool, did a really top job at Celtic, and since he's gone to Leicester it's been a really, really good job.

"They're playing well, they're challenging with the best, he hasn't spent much money, in fact he's probably lost players. That's down to management - what does he have at his disposal and what's he getting from them?"

MARCELO BIELSA

"I'd mention Bielsa [in the running]. People might think because I'm an ex-Leeds player [I'd pick him], it doesn't matter to me that.

"He's finished halfway up the league, the other teams that were promoted with him are going down. And he doesn't have any great resources, but he's done something to the club in the past two years that certainly wasn't there before, and he's made a huge improvement."

SEAN DYCHE

"[I'd have him] in the running. He's had very basic resources to do what he's done, year after year in the Premier League - unbelievable.

"That takes a lot of good management, hardly spending any money and staying there and keeping them there, that's a terrific job."
