Frank Lampard has paid tribute to John Terry, calling the defender; "the last man standing of an incredible era for Chelsea".
On Monday, it was announced that Terry is to leave the club at the end of the season. A product of Chelsea's youth team, the club captain has spent his entire career at the club, with the exception of a brief loan spell at Nottingham Forest in 2000.
This season, Terry has seen his role at Chelsea greatly lessened. He has started only four Premier League games in the current campaign as Antonio Conte continues to modernise his defence with Gary Cahill, David Luiz and Cesar Azpilicueta.
Lampard and Terry won countless titles together at Chelsea, with the midfielder hailing Terry as "the greatest defender in the Premier League era".
"I'd put him up with any defender in world football of any era", Lampard added. "He led the club both on and off the pitch from the moment he made his debut."
"He was, and is, a legend, not just for his talent but just as much for his desire to get the best out of himself and others around him. That's what made him the most successful captain in the club's history."
Terry is to continue playing next season, but he will always be remembered for his time at Chelsea, where he will be known as "Captain. Leader. Legend".
