What legacy has Anthony Daly left behind for Dublin hurling?

Last night spelt the end of a magical era for Dublin hurling as manager Anthony Daly stepped down.

It had been speculated that the Clareman would leave the position he graced for six years but there is plenty to look back on.

His time in charge brought a long-awaited (to put it mildly) Leinster title in 2013, a league triumph in 2011, as well as another provincial final appearance.

It is a strong legacy to leave behind for whoever takes up the mantle and Christy O'Connor joined us to put Daly's achievements into context and the foundations that were built.

"I suppose it's only when people look back in time that they will fully appreciate the Daly legacy. When he first took over, they got to a Leinster final in their first year, got to two All Ireland semi-finals, won a league and were close to winning an All Ireland last year. Sometimes you are judged on the games you win but it should be about more than just that," said O'Connor, highlighting the feelgood factor he brought to Dublin hurling.

The edifice that was built by Daly also has the potential to be eternal according to O'Connor.

"The group is still there, the players are still there. There's no reason why Dublin can't drive it on and take it to another level because Daly has built a platform so it's not like Dublin are going to disappear now that he has left the job."
