With the All-Ireland final replay on this Saturday, it does take the focus away from the Ladies Football final on Sunday. Dublin captain Sinead Aherne said they need to put on a show themselves.
Speaking to Off The Ball, Aherne said they do not want to be seen as an afterthought to the All-Ireland final replay.
"We want them to come out and see a good game to enjoy it as opposed to it being a second-class citizen to what happened on Saturday.
"We're very aware that you have to give people something to follow and something that's worth writing about and watching.
"I think the strides the game has been making, it is continuing to improve and it's great to see as many media outlets as there are here today," Aherne said.
While Ladies football is growing year-on-year we still don't see it get the same attention that the men's game does. For Aherne, she wants to see it have the same in-depth coverage.
Plotlines and storylines
"The next level then is the critical analysis and seeing the game being analysed and having as many plotlines and storylines, as well as the tactical element of it to be covered.
"We want it to be seen as something that's worth going to see in its own right," the Dublin right corner forward stated.
Aherne thinks it is all about getting people invested in the women's game and giving them a reason to keep coming back.
"You read articles coming up to the replay and there is probably an article in the news every day, a different aspect or analysing the final.
"Look, there is so much knowledge about the men's game out there and I think if we can carry that over a little bit into the women's game.
"You'll get the stories, you'll get the coverage improving and when people have something that they're watching or looking out for in a game, they're more encouraged to tune in and see how it turns out," Aherne said.
