Waterford under-21 hurling manager Sean Power is "on top of the world" after watching his team bring the county a first provincial crown at that level since 1994.
But he also feels it makes up for the hurt of the past and allowed them to prove a point to critics and themselves.
They won the Bord Gais Energy final by defeating Tipperary and afterwards, Power spoke to Newstalk's Oisin Langan.
"It's fantastic. Words are difficult to describe how I feel at the minute. The lads did what they needed to do work-wise. It just goes to show you with all the hard work and all the training, dedication and everything you do, that if you do all those things that there are rewards there and people become champions by the hard work they do and it feels very satisfying. I feel on top of the world," he said.
"We've been together a long time. I've been with a lot of these guys since they were 12-13 years old and there's a great amount of trust between us all and they were hurt last year. We had a couple of points to prove to different people and some points to prove to ourselves and self-motivation is a great factor."
