Just sixteen years after their formation, the Latton Ladies football team won the Ulster Junior title at the weekend.
The Monaghan side overcame Cavan champions Kingscourt with nine points to spare to claim the Provincial honours and they celebrated the win in the most selfless manner by bringing the cup to the founder of their club.
Speaking after the game, Lattan Ladies manager Seamus Coyle explained:
"They went up to man called Brian Dempsey and he would have started that Ladies club back in 2000 and got the thing up and going when he didn't get much help and thank God we are where we are today because of Brian and the people who helped him out along the way."
"Brian definitely did (enjoy the moment), he's a Latton Ladies man to the backbone and supports them all the time, he's a great man."
"It's a great achievement for all concerned, a great achievement for them bunch of girls that's on the pitch today, they've worked hard over a number of years to get this far. A few years didn't go our way but thank God today did go our way and thank God we got over the line. Every girl knows where they come from and that's the long and short of it."
