There were tense scenes in Croke Park today as Dublin and Mayo played out a draw in the 2016 All-Ireland senior football final.
But just as relief was descending on both camps who still have another chance to contest for the Sam Maguire, news emerged that the scheduled date for the replay will cruelly clash with a pre-arranged date for Dublin Bus industrial action.
Employees of Dublin Bus are protesting for a 15% pay increase over three years, which has already led to strikes in September that have implicated 400,000 commuters on each day of the strikes.
And the workers are planning further strike days in October, one of which will coincide with the All-Ireland final replay on October 1st.
Here's how the Twitter population greeted the news:
I imagine the match reply on the day of a bus strike might concentrate minds hitherto unconcerned. Mr Ross.

It'll be the most Irish thing ever: bus strike will be resolved in time so no one has to miss the football #GAA #DublinBusstrike

Dublin Bus will be on strike on October 1st - the day of the All Ireland replay. That's going to be messy #DUBvMAYO

So, the All-Ireland Final replay is on the 1st of October. Which is also a Dublin Bus strike day. I guess the drivers have won.

Will Dublin Bus call off their strike on 1st October to facilitate #DUBvMAYO replay? The Luas didn't on Easter Rising anniversary.
