Longford have executed a major scalp to reinforce their status as qualifier specialists.
After prevailing against Down in the previous round, it looked like an insurmountable task to overcome Monaghan in an away fixture this evening in Clones.
But Denis Connerton - who was also in charge on the last occasion that Longford defeated Monaghan in a qualifier encounter - has masterminded another famous win over the Farney men.
Wonderful end of game scenes in Clones with Longford team & supporters. Shows what's great about the GAA: pic.twitter.com/3xwmscV1BI

Longford have garnered an exceptional reputation for embracing the qualifiers in respect of previous big wins against apparently superior outfits including Derry and Mayo in previous seasons.
And tonight, Twitter reacted accordingly to another stunning victory.
Some win for Longford! A county that always has the right attitude to the qualifiers.

Mayo Derry Down and now Monaghan all hanging from Longford's belt in this decade. Some county to embrace qualifiers. Fantastic win.

Massive win for Longford. Saw them play Dublin last year and they seemed decades away from an upset like that. Magnificent.

Another big qualifier scalp for Longford. Great win for them. But forcing Monaghan to play seven days after Donegal defeat still wrong.
