"To be honest, I don't read it" - Kevin Walsh reacts to criticism of his tactics and reflects on provincial success

Galway claimed their first provincial football title in eight years yesterday evening after beating Roscommon in the Connacht final replay.

Both Roscommon and Galway were widely criticised for their defensive performances in the initial final, but Galway boss Kevin Walsh insists that he doesn't pay attention to what is written in the media.

"To be honest, I don't read it," he said. "I think people like to put out a story that catches in a headline and to be honest it doesn't interest me. I've absolutely no interest whatsoever. Sometimes we'll go out and analyse the opposition and I'd expect the same from our counterparts. But if it's from someone outside who isn't involved, regardless of where they came from, it doesn't really interest me.

"I didn't read [Jim McGuinness' article], I don't know how long or how short it is. We're really only interested in what we're doing ourselves. We will change up things as we feel we are required to do that and if it works we're very happy. If it doesn't work, we'll go again."
