The end is nowhere near for Brian Cody as the manager of Kilkenny

Brian Cody has overseen an unprecedented level of success as the manager of the Kilkenny hurlers. For the last 18 years he has never gone three years without winning an All Ireland hurling title and has also accumulated 16 Leinster titles in that time.

Richie Power, recently retired from inter-county hurling, believes Cody won't stop managing the Cats in the near future and will remain in his role provided there is talent coming through Kilkenny's underage setup.

“I don’t think the end is anywhere near. He’s recently retired from his position in his primary school. Again, it’s freed up a bit more time for him,” said Power, a two-time All-Star," Power said.

"I think he’s going to be there for the foreseeable future. I don’t see why not. His record speaks for itself. His will is to win and I suppose I don’t know how to explain it.

“He has a skill of unearthing new talent every year. He always seems to find them two or three players every year to freshen things up.

“I certainly don’t see any reason why he won’t continue. The talent is there and if there’s talent there, Brian will certainly find it.”

Kilkenny are poised to win another All-Ireland after brushing aside all comers in Leinster culminating in a victory over Galway in the final. While some of the Munster teams regroup and try to figure out a way to counter Cody's brilliance, they have not managed it yet and you wouldn't count on this year being any different.
