Sunday's league finals in Croke Park expected to break attendance record

The GAA are expecting a sell-out crowd at Croke Park on Sunday for the Division 1 and 2 league finals with a long-standing record set to be broken in terms of attendance.

The record for a league final was set in 1964 when 70,126 spectators watched Dublin defeat Down on a scoreline of 2-9 to 0-07.

There are still a small number of Hill 16 tickets available but they are expected to fly off the shelves before the games throw in at 1.30pm on Sunday and while there is still a small section of the Hill closed off, it can still house 80,000, which would eclipse the previous attendance record by some amount.

Kerry and Dublin reacquaint themselves following last year's All-Ireland final and Tyrone look to get their hands on some silverware with Cavan aiming to halt their unbeaten run in the league.

Dublin have played seven and won seven and are looking to win their fourth league title in as many years. Kerry's last victory in the competition came in 2009 but will be buoyed by the return of captain Bryan Sheehan and Brendan Kealy as the starting goalkeeper.

In the game that precedes the Division 1 final, Cavan received a boost with news that Seanie Johnston was available having missed out on his side's final league game against Galway. Sean Cavanagh is set to appear in his 220th game for Mickey Harte's side, who also remain unbeaten through seven games.
