Sean Cavanagh will be back in the Tyrone jersey next year

Update:

Sean Cavanagh has revealed his intent to commit to a 16th inter-county season for Tyrone.

The three-time All-Ireland winner is one of the few remaining panellists from their last All-Ireland success in 2008. And at 33, there were concerns that he would retire this year but the Moy clubman has confirmed that he will wear the Tyrone jersey again next season.

Tyrone boss Mickey Harte recently expressed his confidence that Cavanagh would return to the fold. When speaking on TG4 during their coverage of the Tyrone SFC final, he said:

"I don’t think it’s the last time he’s playing for Tyrone, and I hope it’s not the last time he’s playing for Tyrone."

Earlier today, Cavanagh added to that confidence after publishing the following Tweet from his personal account:

It triggered a deluge of comments inquiring if he was committing to a 16th season, and Cavanagh has since posted an update, ending the speculation about his future:

Cavanagh was at the forefront of Tyrone's Ulster success this year, their first provincial title in six years. And since making his senior debut in 2002, the Moy clubman has consistently earned a place in the first 15 for Tyrone. His 2016 campaign however, ended in disappointment when he was dismissed on the back of a second bookable offence during their All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Mayo.
