'Proud Dub' Dessie Farrell will bring great expertise to the senior football position, according to the incoming chairman of the Dublin GAA county board.
Michael Seavers spoke to Shane Hannon following the appointment of Farrell on Thursday evening to the role, and believes that he was the best candidate for the job.
"I think he is going to bring an expertise that he has learned over the years," said Seavers.
"He speaks of the hurt and the disappointment when Tipperary beat us in the Minor final, similar to Jim Gavin in Donegal in 2014.
"He has a great expertise and a great knowledge, he is a proud Dub. He has played for us, he has managed at Minor and has managed club teams.
"I have no doubt that he will continue the culture that is there at the moment, of the pride in representing Dublin and its people."
There had been questions over the backroom staff that would be available to Farrell, and Seavers was clear that the board would not interfere in his decisions.
"We won't be imposing anything on Dessie in terms of his backroom team. What we speak about in the backroom team is the expertise that we make available, with the likes of Brian Cullen, Daniel Davey and our medical team.
"There is huge experience there, and that is what we have to offer to Dessie. We would not be a county board that said we have to vet the backroom team. We trust Dessie to be well able to manage that himself."
Seavers believes the role for Farrell will be less a tactical challenge, and more one of motivating players.
"A lot of what will happen will be man management. We have some super athletes there.
"Dessie has been around, run minors and 21s to titles, and he has no little experience in footballing ability.
"Along with his business acumen, there is a huge combination there for success."
