It looks as though it may be the end of an era for some members of the Donegal panel as seasoned campaigner Rory Kavangh hints at a possible second retirement.
Kavanagh rejoined the fold at the beginning of this season having previously withdrawn from inter-county football but today's All-Ireland quarter-final loss to Dublin, could mark the end of his second coming with Donegal.
The Ulster finalists fought with typical resilience throughout the game but couldn't curtail Dublin's relentless drive and suffered a five point loss in the end.
Speaking to Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre, Kavanagh hinted at another retirement after a decade of service for Donegal.
"Listen, it could be. I'm not gonna speak for other boys but listen it probably will be for a lot of boys. Time catches up with everybody and every man will go out with their had held high."
When asked about himself specifically, he said:
"Probably... You know a lot of the boys were thinking of pulling the plug after being beaten by Armagh in 2010 so to come back and respond and prove a lot of the critics wrong and to go on and make so many great memories, is something I'll always cherish."
Speaking about what went wrong for them today, Kavanagh said:
"We're just disappointed with the way we were attacking, it just wasn't clicking but you have to give Dublin credit, they clogged up the middle well."
"We always had the belief. 2014 certainly helped with that and we felt if we could make a couple of goals. One came and we needed more."
