Dublin's footballers took on a selection of club players in the annual Blue Stars Challenge match on New Year's Day, a game that may well secure its place in GAA lore for a while to come.
The reason being it was the first time that the mark was in use in a game since the GAA brought in the change back in February.
However, speaking to The Independent after the game, former Dublin footballer Tomás Quinn said he wasn't too sure that the rule change would have a huge impact on the game.
"It was only when they announced it literally as the ball was thrown in that I copped it was going to be in play. I don't think it had a big impact today. A couple of catches there near the end all right.
"When you heard the whistle, my instinct was to think 'what was the foul for?'," said the St. Vincent's man. "You're just so used to it, but it's something I think you'll pick up pretty quick."
However, Quinn was less sure that the change needed to be made at all, stating: "I'm not sure how much of an impact it's going to have."
"There was only about three or four of them throughout the game," he added. "With the calibre of goalies that are there now and the young guys coming in, the days of putting the ball down and kicking it as long as you can are gone.
"I don't know if the rule was overly necessary. Some people, traditionalists, like to think it's going to go back to high fielding and that, but you're always going to be trying to pick someone out or to put it into a space."
The game itself was a high-scoring affair, which finished in a narrow win for Jim Gavin's side by a score of 3-13 to 4-09 over the club side selection.
Conor McHugh's individual tally of 2-4 was notable, but Quinn himself went one better for the All Stars as he put up 3-5 on the board.
