Meath agree to Christy Ring Cup replay but fixture issue could now be on the cards

The Meath County Board have proposed a compromise to the controversy surrounding last weekend's Christy Ring Cup final.

The management committee, the players and coaches have agreed to take part in a replay but they don't want the match to be held this weekend.

In the interests of player welfare, they say that the game should be held at Croke Park on June 18th, which is the same weekend that Antrim are due to play their Ulster semi-final.

This weekend's Meath's club hurling championship games have also been postponed.

There had been a "very strong possibility" that Meath would refuse the replay granted by the GAA, but now this eventuality has been averted.

They had thought that they had won the Christy Ring Cup final, only for it to emerge that the scoreline had been wrongly recorded.
