Mayo County Board summoned to meeting with Central Council and Connacht Council

The officers of Mayo County Committee have been asked to attend a meeting with members of the Connacht Council and the GAA's Central Council in the wake of the standoff between the County Board and Mayo's International Supporters Foundation.

In a document seen by Off The Ball, Mayo GAA been told that the purpose of the meeting, which is due to take place in the next few weeks, is to "scope the full extent" of the problem and to help "reach a solution that will be sustainable into the future".

It's understood GAA Director General Tom Ryan was involved in discussions with Connacht Council about the situation.

The Foundation is withholding around €250,000 in funding due to questions being raised over governance and sponsorship, which led to an "in-camera" discussion around a vote of confidence in the County Board's executive last week.

Seven clubs raised concerns over the authenticity of that vote, after Mayo County Board claimed that confidence had been expressed in the executive.

On Thursday night a lengthy meeting, the third in just nine days, took place behind closed doors in Castlebar, with Mayo GAA issuing a brief statement afterwards:

"A Mayo GAA Co Board meeting took place tonight in Elverys MacHale Park to discuss a number of topics with a range of views expressed by all in attendance.

"Following this all Clubs & the Board are now all looking forward to working together for the betterment of Mayo GAA from now on & into 2020."
