'We've lived to fight another day' | Peter Keane raring to go again

Kerry football manager Peter Keane was proud of his side after their dramatic draw with Dublin in the All-Ireland final.

The Kingdom went into the match as massive underdogs and few tipped them as being able to halt Dublin’s Drive for Five.

However, a Johnny Cooper red card on the stroke of half time allowed Kerry’s young guns to claw their way back into the game.

Keane spoke to Off The Ball after the match and while his side didn’t win he was very happy with how his young players performed in what was for many of them the biggest game of their careers to date.

“Well look, we’ve lived to fight another day. So look we’ll go away and prepare and come back again on Saturday week.

“Sure look, we’ve another All-Ireland final to play in. I suppose every time we’re playing in an All-Ireland aren’t we looking forward to it,” Keane said.

While some may consider the draw as a missed opportunity for the Munster champions, Keane wasn’t annoyed that his team wasn’t able to beat the Dubs.

“I wouldn’t be listening to any cynics… Look, we played in an All-Ireland final. We were up against a team who were looking for their seventh All-Ireland in nine years.

“They have a bucket-load of experience. Look, we gave it a shot and we’ll give it another shot next Saturday week,” Keane commented.

The Kerry manager was bullish about the replay and commended his players for their brave performance.

“Of course we’re proud of them. We’ve been proud of them all year. Look it’s an opportunity to come and learn again,” Keane said.

Kerry and Dublin will meet again on Saturday, September 14th when they’ll get another shot at stopping the Dubs from being the first side to complete the five-in-a-row.
