Welcome to Kieran Donaghy’s Shot Clock - a brand new weekly feature on OTB AM where every Thursday, the Kerry legend goes head-to-head with an Off The Ball presenter.
They’ll fight their corner on six different topics from across the world of sport, with a two minute timer ensuring they get to the point! There’ll be rapid fire predictions and the mailbox too (email [email protected]) where our viewers get to challenge Donaghy with their thoughts, if it’s strong enough we might even throw you on air!
The Shot Clock will also feature a weekly interview, where we’ll get a few minutes to pick the brains of some of the most interesting people in sport; this week, we’re joined by one of the most highly regarded officials in Gaelic Games, former inter-county referee Pat McEnaney.
What we learned from Episode 2 of the Shot Clock:
Donaghy wants to mic-up match officials to garner more respect for referees.
The @officialgaa could learn a lot from this. It sets the tone from a refs point a view and builds up the bond between players and officials. It was done when we played the Aussies down under in the international rules. The way the refs down there talk to the players is top class https://t.co/Y5r2d3NifR

Drinking Bans” are counterproductive; players should be allowed to enjoy themselves.
"If I got out two weeks before a county championship game in Kerry, the question will be asked, 'why were you out, were you drinking?'"@starryboy14 offered his insight into the drinking culture within the GAA

Arrogance vs Confidence: you need that “fear” to perform.
Can see @starryboy14 growing quickly into the punditry role with @offtheball - plenty of stories ahead.
