Kevin De Bruyne wins Premier League Player of the Season

Despite their Champions League elimination to Lyon, the Belgian midfielder has something to celebrate after he was named the Premier League Player of the Season for the 2019/20 season.

In doing so,  De Bruyne beat Liverpool trio Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold to claim the prize. In terms of the other nominees, Southampton striker Danny Ings, Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope and Leicester's Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy were also in contention.

While City lost their Premier League crown to Liverpool, the Belgian enjoyed his most productive season since arriving at the Etihad in 2015 from Wolfsburg.

The 29-year-olds 20 assists throughout the season equalled the Premier League record that was set by Arsenal's Thierry Henry in 2003.

Aside from this, he also found the back of the net 13 times for Pep Guardiola's men.

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold was named Young Player of the Season, while his manager Jurgen Klopp won the award for Premier League Manager of the Season.

Klopp beat Frank Lampard, Chris Wilder and Brendan Rodgers to win the award.
