Just five points were scored between both teams in a Donegal club game this weekend

Fans of GAA in Donegal this weekend were treated to...well not a classic anyway, as a tight club match ended with just five points scored in total.

Glenswilly came out on the right side of the result, having scored all their points in the first half according to Donegal Now

Cathal Gallagher and Gary McFadden were on target for Gelnswilly, while Eunan's Conor Parke also put one over the bar to keep his side within touching distance before the half-time whistle went.

However, in the second half, there was just one point scored between the teams, as Eunan's narrowed the gap but were unable to draw level.

While many on Twitter were ready to declare the sport dead (again) thanks to the scourge of the blanket defence, it seems that, with both sides missing a number of starting players, the real culprit was the fact that they forgot their shooting boots.

According to Donegal Sport Hub, St. Eunan's alone are missing 21 players, while a number of fans themselves missed out on the action as the time of the fixture was changed to 12 noon to "accommodate the Tractor Run, a charity event for the Glenswilly Chapel Restoration Fund."

Of course, as Kieran Cunningham points out, there's no point in reading anything in to the result, highlighting that there were other games at club level that had vastly different scorelines, and no one was hailing the demise of the sport.

Still, a win is a win...
