Podge Doran's first half goal on 15 minutes ultimately proved crucial in separating the two Leinster rivals, who went in 1-11 to 0-9 at the break.
As the clock ticked down towards the game's conclusion, both sides were locked at 1-14 to 0-17 apiece until two points from dual star Lee Chin and one from Richie Kehoe saw Wexford establish a three point winning margin.
