Galway have been dealt a huge blow ahead of their All-Ireland U21 final next month, with the news that Conor Whelan could be a fitness doubt.
Galway scored a narrow extra-time victory over Dublin last night with Whelan one of just three senior players leading the charge. He was substituted in the opening minutes of extra-time with what has since been diagnosed as a suspected dislocated shoulder.
That injury could leave him a doubt for the final against Waterford, who also have injury worries to contend with following their comprehensive semi-final victory over Antrim.
Both Austin Gleeson and Shane Bennett were both taken off early in the game with knocks, but their injuries are thought to be relatively minor.
In the other semi-final, decisive frees from Brian Molloy edged Galway over the line and gives them the chance to atone for their All-Ireland minor defeat to Waterford in 2013.
