It may still be nine months until the All-Ireland champions in both football and hurling are crowned, but for many counties the 2017 season gets underway on Sunday afternoon.
There are games taking place in all four provinces, with All-Ireland football champions Dublin beginning their campaign in the O'Byrne Cup at home to DCU Dochas Eireann.
In Connacht, beaten All-Ireland finalists Mayo begin their season with a FBD League game at home to NUIG in Castlebar.
Neither of last year's All-Ireland hurling finalists are in action on Sunday, but many eyes will be focused on Gorey to see how Davy Fitzgerald's era in charge of Wexford's hurlers begin. They face UCD at 12.45pm.
