Galway confirm Paul Killeen suffered a cruciate injury against Dublin

Galway have confirmed that defender Paul Killeen will play no further part in their championship campaign after suffering a cruciate injury during their win over Dublin.

The defender went down during Galway's 2-28 to 1-17 win at O'Connor Park and had to be lifted from the field.

In a statement today, Galway GAA said: "During the Leinster Hurling Championship game between Galway and Dublin played in Tullamore yesterday, Sunday 28th May 2017, Paul Killeen left the field of play with an injury.

"It is now confirmed that Paul has suffered a cruciate injury which will rule him out of action for the remainder of the season.

"On behalf of the Galway Senior Hurling Panel and Management Team we would like to wish Paul our very best wishes for a speedy recovery and I ask that all of us offer our full support and best wishes to Paul."

The Tribesmen were comfortable winners in Tullamore against 14-man Dublin and will now face Offaly in the semi-final of the Leinster championship.

A win here would see them progress to compete for a first second ever Leinster title against Davy Fitzgerald's Wexford or Brian Cody's Kilkenny.
