Division 1

Donegal 2-17 Tyrone 2-13.

Donegal beat Tyrone at Ballybofey in the dress rehearsal for their Ulster Championship meeting.

The win means that Declan Bonner's men are safe in Division 1 for another year after they got the better of their local rivals at MacCumhaill Park.

Both sides are now all but out of league title contention but Donegal were comfortable winners after a second-half goal from Jamie Brennan helped them to a three-point win.

Donegal started well and moved 1-3 to 0-2 ahead after eight minutes with Peadar Mogan scoring a great goal.

After leading 1-9 to 1-6 ahead at the break, Tyrone hit back and kicked the first two points of the second half, however Brennan's goal for Donegal in the 40th minute stretched their lead.

Ultimately, the scoreline was kind to Tyrone with a last-minute Conor McKenna goal putting some gloss on the scoreline.

The result means that Tyrone are facing relegation ahead of their trip to Mayo next weekend.

As it stands, Tyrone have 6 points and Mayo are on 5. Monaghan, who complete their programme at home to relegated Meath, also have 5 points.

Donegal - sitting on 7 points - are now safe because only one from Tyrone and Mayo can move above them.

Galway 0-17 Mayo 3-23

Mayo marked their return to the inter-county season with a stunning 15-point win over rivals Galway at Tuam Stadium, finishing proceedings with a final scoreline of 3-23 to 0-17.

Heading into the game, James Horan's side were at risk of relegation but goals from Mark Moran, Paddy Durcan, and Conor Loftus gave them a comprehensive win.

Galway's plans weren't helped by early injuries to Damien Comer and Johnny Duane, but they were completely outplayed.

Mayo led by 2-17 to 0-07 at the end of a remarkable opening half in the Allianz Football League Division 1 clash when they had the breeze behind them, with James Horan's men scoring more in that half than they did in any of their five league games earlier this season.

Referee Maurice Deegan even put Galway out of their misery by blowing his whistle a couple of minutes early.

GAA roundup

Division 2
Clare 1-11 Fermanagh 1-09

Fermanagh will play in Division 3 of the Allianz National Football League in 2021 after losing out to Clare in Ennis.

Ryan McMenamin's men were seriously depleted over the last few weeks as a result of an outbreak of Covid-19 but they still brought 26 players to Cusack Park for this crunch tie.

The first half was a tight affair with the sides trading points, Tomás Corrigan and Declan McCusker on target for the visitors to leave it 0-03 to 0-03 after 20 minutes.

Clare did find the net on the half-hour mark though as Joe McGann raced along the end line before thumping to the roof of the net.

However, missed goal chances in the closing quarter proved fatal for Fermanagh,  and while they did bag a goal deep in injury time thanks to an Eddie Courtney penalty, it was too late as Fermanagh are relegated with a game to go.

Kildare 1-21 Cavan 0-20

Kildare kept their Allianz Football League Division 2 survival hopes alive thanks to a four-point win over Cavan in Newbridge.

Fergal Conway's second-half goal looked like it was about to give Kildare a comfortable lead as they moved 10 points clear, but Cavan rallied to force a nervous finish.

Martin Reilly also missed a penalty for the visitors that proved to be crucial.

Division 3

Tipperary 1-16 Offaly 0-16
