Eamon Ryan leaves Cork ladies setup to join men's backroom team

Peader Healy has announced that legendary Cork ladies coach Eamon Ryan will come on board as a selector in his back room team for the coming year.

The announcement came via a statement on Cork's official website, "Cork Senior Football manager Peadar Healy has today confirmed that Eamonn Ryan (Glenville/Watergrasshill), who coached the Cork Ladies Football team to ten of the last eleven All-Ireland titles, has joined his backroom team as a selector, along with Morgan O'Sullivan (Castletownbere) and Eoin O'Neill (Aghada)."

Healy himself was appointed in lieu of Brian Cuthbert's departure from the job following a rather embarrassing defeat at the hands of Kildare in the All Ireland qualifiers last year. Healy has installed Paudie Kissane and Conor McCarthy as strength and conditioning and performance coaches respectively and has found a man in Ryan who has a wealth of experience within Cork GAA.

It was reported earlier in the week that a move to the men's team could be on the cards and it was said that Ryan had even met with some of the more senior players in order to inform them of his thinking and intention to move on.

Ryan led the Cork ladies' team to five All Irelands in a row with a 12 points to 10 victory over Dublin in September. This year's victory was their tenth in 11 years and Ryan will be a huge loss to the Cork ladies football team.
