Dublin vs Mayo | GAA to sell second allocation of tickets on Wednesday

Ahead of Dublin vs Mayo this weekend, the GAA's Director of Communications Alan Milton has confirmed that an extra allocation of tickets will be available on Wednesday, but has warned fans to expect delays as the hunt for tickets intensifies.

A fixture that has captured the imagination of football fans across the country, the combination of a short turnaround in games and widespread interest has resulted in providing the GAA with a tickets headache ahead of this weekend's first All-Ireland semi-final.

"It was a perfect storm," explained Alan Milton on Newstalk this morning, "we had 20,000 people on an online queue yesterday, while we were processing 7,000 season ticket holders for Saturday's game.

"There were general ticket sales for Sunday too, and we were dispensing tickets through 370 outlets nationwide.

"It was an extremely busy and demanding day for the system. It was probably the greatest demand we've had for a semi-final since Dublin played Mayo in 2015."

Dublin vs Mayo

With the clash between Dublin vs Mayo set to commence at 5pm in Croke Park this Saturday, Milton explained that although another allocation of tickets will be made available this afternoon, some fans will be left unsatisfied.

"The one thing we noticed from yesterday was the massive interest and demand for tickets outside of Mayo and Dublin for this fixture," he explained.

"We haven't encountered this type of problem on a regular basis previously, so, there won't be enough tickets to meet the demand.

"We're heading for a sell-out, the first of the season.

"As soon as we know what time they're on sale we'll make it known, and we'd advise members of the public to leave as much time as they can to access the tickets."
