Davy Fitzgerald speaks out against Ger Loughnane's criticism of Galway

Clare came through their qualifier assignment against Limerick without much fuss this evening in Semple Stadium but Davy Fitzgerald insists that their focus won't extend beyond the All-Ireland quarter-final.

Tony Kelly hit nine points as part of Clare's 0-19 0-15 win over their Munster rivals to ensure that the Banner would progress to the quarter-final stage of the championship.

But the Clare boss insists that the team won't be looking towards a first All-Ireland final appearance in three years and will be concentrating solely on their next competitive fixture.

Depending on the results of other qualifier fixtures, Clare could face a Galway side who received a barrage of criticism following their Leinster final defeat at the hands of Kilkenny.

One of the tribesmen's more prominent critics is Ger Loughnane, who said that Galway lacked 'guts' in the wake of that loss. And Davy Fitzgerald voiced his disagreement this evening, when talking to Off The Ball's Dave McIntyre.

"We won't talk about the All-Ireland, we'll look at the Quarter-Final the next day. Galway (who they could meet in that game) will be baying for blood after what Ger Loughnane said and let this be very straight, we don't agree with that. Galway have been in two All-Irelands and won a Leinster. We know their caliber and we'll respect."
