It was a game that was expected to be one of the ties of the summer. In the end, an immense second-half from Tipperary saw them beat Waterford by 21 points in the Munster Final.
As Tipperary prepare now for the All-Ireland semi-final, Waterford must get themselves ready for a quarter-final clash against Wexford in Semple Stadium this Sunday.
Waterford selector Dan Shanahan has been on the winning and losing sides in Munster Hurling Finals, but he has called the loss to Tipperary as "embarrassing".
Speaking to HoganStand.com, the Lismore native added that the squad have been "outstanding" since the humbling display earlier this month in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick.
"It was tough to take, embarrassing, but we dealt with it like the Clare defeat in the League final."
"We parked it straight away and got back on the road. We trained on that Tuesday night and it was unbelievable. The U21 success brought another bit of cheer to the underage lads, we had a lot of lads on the senior panel that night."
Sunday's opponents Wexford, knocked Waterford out of the Championship, the last time the teams met in 2014, and Shanahan is expecting a similiar performance from Liam Dunne's side this weekend
"It will be a hell of a battle and in the League quarter-final we beat them by a point. They beat us in Nowlan Park two years ago and have 10-13 of those lads still involved. They know what it’s like to win big games against Waterford."
Waterford have reached the Final of the National League and Munster Championship, losing both this year. They are now two games away from reaching their third Final of the year.
