Dan Shanahan: "Losing is not very nice but look there's a lot of positives"

Despite losing to Galway by three points after being in control of the match early on, Waterford's Dan Shanahan is taking the positives from the game.

Speaking to Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after the match, he said: "Losing is not very nice but look there's a lot of positives, a lot of lads making their debuts today. We made nine changes and to come up to Pearse Stadium and to perform like that - disappointed we lost but a lot of positives to take out of it.

"Every team has their spill and Galway's spill was the last ten minutes. Again, we're disappointed, last week to go to Ennis and get a result and then today to perform so well and not get a result but look, we'll go back to the drawing board. We survived. We're in Division 1A next year and that was the main aim," he added.

Galway progress to play Limerick in the semi-final while Waterford were already guaranteed top tier league football next season.
