Cork and Tipperary served up a classic this afternoon as hurling returned to centre stage.
In a game in which either side could have claimed victory, Cork managed to score two second-half goals to help them run out 2-27 to 1-26 winners in Thurles.
Conor Lehane was in exemplary form as he and Sean Kingston terrorised the Tipperary defence. Michael Ryan's side will be shorn of Cathal Barrett it appears for upcoming games, after he was take off with a pretty serious looking knee injury.
Kingston grabbed the first of the goals for the visitors, but the towering performance of Seamus Callanan and Michael Breen kept Tipperary right in the game until the very end.
Michael Cahalane grabbed the all-important second goal of the game to ensure Tipperary would not be advancing to a Munster semi-final to take on Waterford.

Mayo, meanwhile, advanced to the semi-final of the Connacht SFC this afternoon with a hard-fought victory over Sligo at MacHale Park.
Stephen Rochford's side pulled away toward the end to record a 2-14 to 0-11 win over Sligo. Goals from Cillian O'Connor and Diarmuid O'Connor were enough to guide last year's All-Ireland finalists to victory.
The opening half was more tightly contested than the final score reflects. Adrian Marren and Mark Breheny kept the visitors in the hunt for an unlikely victory.
The introduction of Aidan O'Shea - firstly as a blood sub, then on for Andy Moran - drew cheers from the crowd after the Mayo star had been in the headlines this week.

Elsewhere this afternoon, Donegal saw off Antrim in the Ulster SFC quarter-final. Rory Gallagher's side ran out 3-19 to 1-09 winners in Ballybofey to book their place in the semi-final.
They will now take on either Tyrone or Derry in the next round. Paddy McGrath, Patrick McBrearty and Jamie Brennan all found the net for last year's Ulster finalists.
In Leinster, Carlow were able to secure victory over Wexford, they ran out 2-17 to 2-13 winners at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Laois found the net four times and made light work of Longford in a 4-15 to 0-16 win.
Elsewhere, it finished Louth 1-19 - 1-14 Wicklow at Parnell Park.
