Clare's Robert Frost to run for GAA Presidency

Clare's Robert Frost has become the fourth man to be nominated to become the next GAA President.

Clare County Board confirmed on Wednesday night, that their former Chairman had been nominated ahead of next year's election. Frost also served as the Chairman of the Munster Council up until 2015.

Frost is looking to become only the second Clare native to hold the GAA's highest office. In 1887, Edward Bennet became the Association's second President.

"He is one of the most experienced officials in the organisation today at any level today and, critically, retains the passion, drive and enthusiasm for the GAA that he has always had over the years," Joe Cooney, Clare County Board Chairman said. "Uniquely, his experience allows him to marry the needs of the organisation at both national and club level."

Frost joins Galway’s Frank Burke, Kerry's Sean Walsh and Longford's Martin Skelly in hoping to take over from Aogan O Fearghail.

The election takes place in Croke Park at the GAA Congress in February.
