Clare's Fergal Lynch talks from the other side of the fence

Just months after helping Clare hurlers to win the All Ireland, Fergal Lynch recently took on the role of forwards coach for the Banner.

Tonight, he joined us on the line to tell us how testing the transition from player to backroom team has been.

"Now you're on the other side of the fence and [the players] are looking at you to see if you're going to pick them. It's been a huge difference from playing with them and now to be coaching them. But it's an enjoyable experience," said Lynch, who was coaxed back for one more year as a player in 2013 by Davy Fitzgerald.

The Clare manager was also instrumental in bringing him in in a coaching capacity.

"Myself and Davy get on very well together. He trained me at U21, ten or 11 years ago and I played with him in Championship and league. So if knows each other as well as each other, is myself and Davy," said the 31-year-old.

Ahead of the Munster Championship match against Cork, he also spoke about keeping Clare one step ahead of their rivals and adapting new gameplans and strategies.
