"Being beaten by 11 points flattered them" - Paddy Bradley assesses Derry's defeat to Tyrone

Paddy Bradley insists Derry had no game plan heading into Sunday's Ulster SFC quarter-final clash with Tyrone.

Speaking on last night's Off The Ball, Bradley says that the scoreline had flattered that Oak-Leaf county and continued that  Tyrone could have ran up a larger winning margin had they wanted.

"The fact that it was a Derry and Tyrone derby, the fact that all the players know each other and that it was the fifth time they'd played each other this year, you would have thought there was bad blood arising from the other four games," he said, "I expected at the very least that Derry would fizzle and get at Tyrone."

Derry struggled during the game, giving up three goals, one of which was in the opening five minutes of play.

"I made the point yesterday, Tyrone have some lovely footballers the likes of Tiernan McCann, Mattie Donnelly and Peter Harte. I would have thought they would have a plan to stop these guys.

"They weren't physically engaged at all. They had a pile of men behind the ball, but they were just happy to mark space. Tyrone ran at them in droves and cut them open in their threes and fours.

"To be honest, 11 points would have flattered Derry. It seemed to be in the second half that Tyrone were just happy enough to keep Tyrone at arm's length. I would say Mickey told them at half time 'Don't put up a massive score here' because then you have the country talking about you. So I'd say they were happy to keep them at eight, nine or ten points.

"How much we can read into the Tyrone game I'm not sure because Derry were so poor."
